About the Culture Capital of Canada Designation
The Cultural Capital of Canada designation allowed for increased capacity amongst three municipalities, one First nation and twelve different groups to deliver new and expanded Comox Valley events and activities which highlighted the regions arts and cultural focus. Created in the 2007 CCC year were the Seafest Shellfish Festival, the Multicultural Festival and the I-Hos Arts Festival. Expanded festivals through Canadian Heritage CCC funding included the Cumberland Empire Days Celebration, the Taiwanese Lantern Festival, the Filberg Festival and Comox Nautical Days, to name a few.
