Following the Workshop above, the Comox Valley Dine Around Committee and Comox Valley Economic Development &Tourism will host a Dine Around 2.0 Reboot and Industry Mixer.
- Dine Around 2.0 – after 8 years, the 2019 Dine Around is getting a friendly overhaul – learn what’s new and how your business can host or be involved in new events & expanded marketing;
- BC Ale Trail – the Comox Valley has participated in this provincial level initiative for two years to showcase the areas growing craft beer experiences. Learn about the expanding program, assets, and what’s new for 2019;
- 2019/2020 Destination BC Cooperative Grant Application – provide input into culinary initiatives for the regions destination marketing application.
As the dynamic, passionate and forward thinking President & CEO of the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association, Ian Tostenson combines energy and integrity with proven achievement in all areas of business. Ian spent most of his career leading brands such as Cascadia Brands, Calona Vineyards, Sandhill Vineyards, Burrowing Owl Vineyards Granville Island Brewing, Grady Wine Marketing and Potter Distilling.
He was appointed to the Premier’s Permanent Small Business Roundtable and took on the challenge as a member of BC’s Climate Team to chart out BC’s carbon future. Ian was BC’s second chairman for the BC Wine Institute, a finalist in the Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and a recipient of the Business in Vancouver Under 40 Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He has served on the Board as a Director and President of the David Foster Foundation, which continues to create a lasting legacy for the benefit of families with children requiring life threatening organ transplants. He speaks to this cause regularly as well to the cause of HAVE CAFÉ, which he co-founded with partner Brad Mills, sharing a passion to change lives in the downtown eastside.
Above all else, Ian is a coach and mentor to not only those he touches in the business and his community service, but to wife Cathy and his two sons and with whom he lives in North Vancouver. Ian uses a love for innovative thinking, technology and awesome people to lead the way in business and life.
Bert Hick founded Rising Tide Consultants Ltd. after serving 11 years with the British Columbia Government. Throughout Bert’s career with government, he held several key positions including the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat, Executive Director of the Cabinet Secretariat, Secretary to Cabinet under Premier William (Bill) Bennett and General Manager of the BC Liquor Control and Licensing Branch. Bert believes in giving back to the community and is an active member of the Board of Directors with several not-for-profit groups in BC.
With over 30 years of liquor licensing experience, Bert is widely respected throughout British Columbia’s hospitality industry and at all levels of local and provincial government. Bert completed his graduate studies at the University of Victoria
