The First Nations who first settled the Comox Valley knew there was something special about this place. Game was readily available and the forest was like a banquet of wild berries, mushrooms and other foraged plants. And like that old expression goes; when the tide goes out, the table is set. When the first settlers arrived, they too discovered fertile sun-dappled valleys that could yield fields of corn, hay and a cornucopia of vegetables and fruits, rivers running red with salmon and an ebbing tide that revealed a bounty of oysters and clams. Some things never change. Or rather, they just get better. Today in the Comox Valley farm-to-fork and dock to dish aren’t just catchphrases, they’re a reality.
