BC Seafood Festival Volunteer Sign Up Information

Let’s celebrate BC seafood! Western Canada’s largest seafood event, the 12th annual BC Seafood Festival, is being held June 8 – 17, 2018, including the BC Seafood Expo Trade Show Event (June 11-12) and the BC Seafood Festival Signature Weekend (June 15-17) that attracts over 3000+ seafood lovers annually and includes competitions, demonstrations, tastings, dinners, live music and family-friendly activities.

The success of the Expo and Signature Weekend is due in large part to the energetic and welcoming volunteers that support them. If you would like to be a part of the Festival, here are some areas where your service is needed below.

Included as a volunteer you receive:

  • Attendance at a Volunteer Recognition & Accreditation Event
  • Festival T-Shirt and Volunteer Badge
  • BC Seafood Festival Signature Weekend Event Admission for 1 or 2 people
  • 10 Seafood Tasting Tickets or Expo Lunch

Volunteers must:

  • Be 19 years or older. Persons under 16 can volunteer only if they are working with their parents/guardian.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities and complete all shift commitments.
  • Be positive, helpful, welcoming, open and respectful to the guests, participating businesses, and other volunteers.
  • Learn about the BC Seafood Festival Signature WeekendBC Seafood Expo prior to arrival via the website and site maps provided.
  • Set Up / Take Down crew should wear clean, not torn or ragged clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • All volunteers must fill out a Waiver.

Signature Weekend Volunteer Role Descriptions

Chowder Challenge Support
This crew helps set up the chowder challenge and maintain the large crowd!
Entertainment Stage Support
This crew supports entertainers with set/up and cleans the stage area between shows.
Festival Host
This crew welcomes everyone to the festival, answers questions, helps point festival-goers in the right direction.
Filberg Grounds Set-up
This crew builds our festival site with amazing speed! Heavy lifting will be required.
Filberg Grounds Take-down
This crew takes-down our festival site with amazing speed! Heavy lifting will be required.
Food & Beverage Ticket Stations
This crew sells food tickets and booze tickets (2 pieces of ID required for all booze purchases).
Gala Dinner
This crew supports with set-up, guest check-in, cleaning and anything else that pertains to the Gala Dinner.
Green Team
This crew is passionate about recycling and the environment and makes sure recycling and garbage gets put in the right places!
Kids Stage
This crew will be spending time with children and their families while they enjoy fun interactive activities ranging from kids cooking classes to slippery salmon games!
Main Gate/Registration
This crew supports getting thousands of people in the Festival grounds per day! Selling passes, scanning pre-purchased tickets, putting on wristbands.
Master Class & Brunch
This crew helps make sure everything is in place for the lucky guests attending the brunch and/or masterclass!
Shucked! Oyster Bar
This crew supports with set-up, guest check-in, cleaning and anything else that pertains to the Oyster Bar event.
Shucking Competition Support
This crew helps set up the shucking competition and assist the shuckers when needed.
Site Crew
The site crew fills in the gaps, run errands, or even takes over a role for someone who didn’t show up!
