Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park
The Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park Association is dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of the Filberg Lodge and Park.
Nestled in the heart of Comox, BC, the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park is a cherished waterfront destination where heritage, horticulture, and community intersect. The Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park Association (FHLPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of the historic Filberg Lodge and its nine-acre parkland, which features 36 curated garden beds overlooking the Salish Sea.
Filberg Park is a Level I ArbNet-accredited Arboretum and is certified as a Wildlife-Friendly Habitat by the Canadian Wildlife Federation, reflecting FHLPA’s commitment to biodiversity, conservation, and environmental education. To protect the Park’s ecological and heritage assets, dogs are not permitted on the grounds.
The Park’s gardens showcase a diverse range of plantings, including a Cutting Garden that supplies fresh seasonal flowers for the Filberg Lodge, special events, and community programming. Filberg is also home to significant horticultural collections, including specimen rhododendrons from the Greig Rhododendron Collection and the Harry Wright Rhododendrons. Gwen and Harry Wright donated several rhododendrons located in the garden bed on the west side of the Park. Harry Wright was a founding member of the North Island Chapter of the Rhododendron Society and received international recognition from the American Rhododendron Association for his work in rhododendron hybridization.
Filberg is supported by a dedicated community of volunteers who play a vital role in garden stewardship, heritage preservation, guided Lodge tours, and public programming. Visitors are welcome to explore the historic Filberg Lodge, browse the on-site Gift Shop, and participate in seasonal tours and educational opportunities.
The Park hosts signature community events throughout the year, including the renowned Filberg Festival, Easter at Filberg Park, and Christmas at Filberg, when festive programming and beloved Christmas light displays illuminate the grounds. Filberg also offers unique wedding and event rentals, featuring heritage architecture, manicured gardens, ocean views, and the newly introduced Cottage, a charming indoor rental space ideal for intimate gatherings and celebrations.
Through conservation, volunteerism, and year-round community engagement, FHLPA ensures that Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park remains a vibrant, welcoming, and enduring landmark for residents and visitors alike.
