I-Hos Gallery est 1995
Located between Courtenay and Comox on K’omoks First Nations land is I-HOS Gallery, a band-owned and operated First Nations Art Gallery and Gift Shop. An extensive collection of traditional and contemporary Northwest Coast artwork and jewellery created by First Nations artists is on display in a building reminiscent of a traditional longhouse. Authentic Indigenous Art and Trusted Ambassador of Our Culture. Cedar, Silver, Gold Our culture is expressed through our art.
The heavy cedar post-and-beam gallery has two roomy and accessible parking spaces not far from the front door. While the entrance doesn’t have a push plate automatic door opener, the front door is propped open with a kick down door-stopper that keeps the entrance open during the warm months. Once inside, the space is large as you make your way around. There is a long jewellery display cabinet with a cutout to accommodate shoppers using a wheelchair or scooter, and the staff is welcoming and helpful. An accessible washroom is available upon request but not intended for use by the general public.
