Here are all the different ways you can get to Comox Valley, and how to get around while you're here.

The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is served by Air Canada, WestJet and Pacific Coastal Airlines with service and connections via Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. WestJet provides seasonal non-stop service to Puerto Vallarta and Toronto. The air terminal hosts a wide variety of excellent amenities including Budget, Enterprise and National Car rentals, taxi and shuttle services, Canada Border Service Agency, short and long term parking, a café, a gift shop and BC Transit bus service. Centrally located, YQQ is a great choice for access to the whole of Vancouver Island and is less than 10 minutes from the Little River BC Ferries terminal with service to the Sunshine Coast.

  • Air Canada offers direct flights to and from Vancouver.
  • WestJet Airlines operates flights from Comox to Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver as well as seasonal service non-stop to Toronto and Puerto Vallarta, more info here.
  • Harbour Air offers convenient harbour to harbour flights between the downtown Vancouver terminal and the Comox Bay Marina, Town of Comox. Call 1-800-347-2222 for reservations and schedules.
Comox - Powell River Ferry

Regular ferry service links the British Columbia Mainland and Washington State to the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Riding a ferry provides an opportunity to stretch your legs, enjoy a meal, browse the gift shop and observe marine traffic and wildlife. It is a mini-cruise in the middle of your vacation.

BC Ferry terminals on Vancouver Island are located in Victoria (Swartz Bay) and Nanaimo (Departure Bay or Duke Point) with ferry service to/from the Vancouver area, Comox with ferry service to/from Powell River on the Sunshine Coast, and Port Hardy with service from Prince Rupert via the Inside Passage (www.bcferries.com).

From Washington State, you can travel to Vancouver Island via several routes. Follow the links for schedules and information.

Once you’re on Vancouver Island, the Comox Valley is only a 1 1/4 hour (117 km) drive north from Nanaimo or a 2 1/2 hour (227 km) drive from Victoria. Travelling the scenic oceanside route of Highway 19A, you’ll pass the Buckley Bay ferry terminal for sailings to Denman Island and Hornby Island, and travel through the seaside communities of Fanny Bay, Union Bay, and Royston as you approach Courtenay, the largest urban centre in the Comox Valley.

Or, once you’re north of Nanaimo you can also follow Highway 19 and take Exit 117 onto the Comox Valley Parkway. Take the first right onto Minto Road, then turn right onto Small Road to find the Vancouver Island Visitor Centre. Our trained staff at the Visitor’s Desk can book your accommodation in many Comox Valley hotels, motels, and hostels and help with directions to Comox Valley campgrounds and RV Parks. Coming from the North Island? The Comox Valley is only a 3 1/2 hour (280 km) drive from Port Hardy. Highway 19 Exit numbers 87, 101, 117, 127, 130 and 144 will lead you to various points in the Comox Valley.

Those travelling to the Comox Valley by boat will find a full range of facilities including moorage, showers, restaurants and shops adjacent to the Comox Marina. Contact the Comox Valley Harbour Authority at 250-339-6041 for more information.

Throughout the Comox Valley and surrounding areas, local bus and 24 hour taxi services are provided. Airport shuttlelimousine services and other private bus and transportation service options are also available. The Vancouver Island Connector connects all parts of Vancouver Island with the Mainland.
