Work / life balance... While a smaller community than we were used to, it is vibrant and welcoming. I have more time to participate and make a difference. I can network easier, volunteer and get involved. A great place to raise kids.

Family Life

Family life is at the heart of the Comox Valley. Whether you're starting your family or seeing your kids off to take on their own lives, our community has a lot to offer families at all stages. There are many options for public schooling with multiple secondary, middle, and elementary schools throughout the community. There are also alternative schools and speciality programs offering in-depth education in technology and the arts. North Island College has a local campus, including popular one and two year programs in digital design and web development.

Outdoor and indoor recreation options abound in the Comox Valley. Multiple recreation and sports complexes offer swimming pools, skating rinks, climbing walls, gyms and scores of lessons and programs for all manner of physical and cultural activities. Outdoor activities include world-class mountain biking trails and terrain parks, many kilometres of alpine ski runs and nordic trails, a snowboard park, snowshoeing and hiking trails, campgrounds, golf courses, marinas, fishing spots, beaches, lakes, rivers, parks and playgrounds. If you can think of an outdoor sport or activity, chances are someone is doing it here. Except ice-fishing, we don't do that.

Culture & Community

Another name for the area could easily be the Festival Valley. If you have a musical preference, you'll find music festivals with local and international artists to suit your tastes, from jazz and classical, to country, folk, electronic, dance, pop and everything in-between. The visual arts are supported by multiple arts festivals, and those who love cuisine can get their fill from festival featuring the best in seafood, bar-b-q, craft beer, whiskey and wine. Throughout the year, it seems that very few weekends go by without a family-oriented festival or event. Even our Farmers' Market happens all year, rain, snow, or shine.
